Bombalurina

Bomba bit her lip. "Well...He didn't really...Respond, or anything...I mean...He just said that he needed some time to think, and ran off."

She turned her face away from the entrance of the den so Macavity wouldn't see the tears that were threatening to run down her furry cheeks. She didn't know where Macavity was, of course, but she assumed that he couldn't be actually IN her den. How could he have gotten in without her noticing? He couldn't. Not even if he was the "Napoleon of Crime"

Macavity was surprised by her answer. "He didnt. So...where did he go to think? Did he say?" He waited patiently for her reply.

Bomba shook her head. “No…But…He headed off towards to Human’s houses…That’s what he always does when he needs to think. I followed him once, but I didn’t get very far. It doesn’t make sense that he would go to a Human house, because Munkus doesn’t have Humans…”

"No? Well what if I told you that I know exactly where he is?" He tried to keep his voice even as he spoke. "Think about it...you could see him awa from all the others. Let me know what you think...I will be around."

Bomba’s eyes widened as Macavity’s words reached her ears. She quickly sat up, turning around to face the front of the den again. “You know where he is? Please, tell me!” Her voice squeaked a little in her excitement, and she blushed, and said, a little quieter, “Please?”

"Rest at ease, my dear. Where you lost him last time...locate the green flat with a doggie door. That is where you will find him. Just go on in and show him how you feel. He will understand...trust me." He rolled on to his back again and stretched to relax. He anxiously awaited her reply.

Bomba smiled eagerly, her heart pounding…But then, just as suddenly, her excitement faded away. It wouldn’t be right to intrude on Munkus…Would it? If he had a Human family, he probably didn’t want to be disturbed when he was with them. Bombalurina knew that she liked to be alone when she was her Human, but that was for a different reason altogether.
Her Human was a little old lady who lived in an apartment down the road. She was the nicest thing, and gave Bomba tuna, and milk, and other lovely things when she came to visit. If the other Jellicles knew that she had a Human, and that she, even worse, tended to act quite like a newborn kitten around her…It would be the end of her social life in the Junkyard. She didn’t want Munkus to go through that sort of thing. But, then again, Munkus didn’t really care what the other Jellicles thought of him. He was not very happy when he was in crowds, and Bomba could tell. He was always much happier with just one or two cats around. The exception to this rule was the Jellicle Ball. On that night, Munkus seemed to come out of his shell, and he led the Ball with earnest.
In any case, Bomba thought, she might be Munkus’s mate soon, and mates never kept secrets from one another. She straightened up, and got off of her bed, saying boldly, “Alright…I will!” With a new skip in her step, she quickly ran out of her den, and down the road towards the Human neighborhood.

Macavity watched Bomba as she left her den. "Good for you...my dear. Go get your tom."
